Do’s and Don’ts When Eating Eggs

Eggs can be a healthy addition to a diet, but there are actually some do’s and don’ts to eating eggs.

Eggs can be very nutritional since they contain essential things a body needs like amino acids, vitamins, minerals, and protein. However, eggs are high in cholesterol so eating them too often can lead to high blood cholesterol levels. If you love eggs, but don’t want to have high cholesterol, there are a few options for you.

You can eat eggs but cut back on other foods that contain saturated and trans fats. Another option is to use yolk-free egg substitutes. The third option is to eat egg whites only. Egg whites are made up of water and protein and contain no cholesterol.

A don’t when it comes to egg consumption is not eating them every single day. Some studies suggest that high levels of egg consumption can increase a person’s chance of developing Type 2 diabetes. Also, people with diabetes have an increased risk of heart disease than a completely healthy person.

Eating often, but not every day is the best way to that advantage of their benefits without experience the negative effects they can cause.

It is believed that Americans consume over 40 billion eggs a year and 1 in every 30,000 is contaminated with salmonella.

Salmonella can be on the shells of eggs if they are not properly cleaned and handled or the bacteria can be inside the egg if the chicken that laid it was infected.

Farms are supposed to wash eggs with a sanitizer to help avoid contamination. Eggs should stay refrigerated in trucks, stores and in consumers’ homes. It is recommended that eggs be thoroughly cooked and used within two weeks of purchasing.

The salmonella egg outbreak may lead people to avoid eggs for a long time, but they are still a beneficial food.

Eating in moderation keeps one healthy. Getting too much of any food or anything leads to disadvantages, hence, indulging to much in a particular food means harm to health. No younger individuals can readily attest to this, but by the time they get age 40 upwards their body will manifest what they have indulged in younger days.

Eggs are part of the food and the treatment armamentarium of my great grandmother, Juliana Colipapa who was the healer in our seaside town of Catmon, Cebu. She died of old age. She fell asleep in her armchair and did not wake up.
My mother is now 91 years old. I am 67…my blood presssure is 128 over 73. Our chief Med Tech at Western Mindanao Medical Center doing my last blood chemistry check told me she run it again since the values were normal. And the values did not change.

“A don’t when it comes to egg consumption is not eating them every single day.”

This sentence is saying that you should eat them everyday; yet, the article goes on to say not to eat them everyday. The word “don’t” with the word “not” in the same sentence “cancel” each other out.

Being aware of healthy choices is important. I cleaned house for a lady in her 90′s who was active and said ” she had eggs every morning for breakfast”. Also, there were others. So, there may be exceptions to the statement above.
